I'll be putting up promotional posts on the day, but there is large free book promotion coming this Friday. Over 1000+ books free on platforms such as Amazon, Kobo, B&N Nook, and Google. Some of the books are already free (as we have to set the promos early so Amazon will have time to get off their butts and price match), and can be found at:
And, yes, there is no requirement to sign up up for newsletters or anything like that. Just click the "buy" button on the appropriate platforms for the books you like. Many of the Amazon copies aren't free yet (I just sent off the price match request for mine), but if you want to start poking around, you can.
While the majority of the books are by romance authors, there is are books by BIPOC authors, LGBT+ protagonists, and authors with disabilities. Some of the books in these categories are not romances. Zoe wanted to include those as a way to give them exposure.
If you want to download my entry, it's To Lure a Lord by Caro Kinkead. At the moment, free everywhere but Amazon (probably free there by tomorrow or late this evening).
Also, if you write romance and would like to participate in next quarter's promo (there is no charge for participating), you can find info here. If you need an invite to the Facebook group where this is organized, message me.
Synopsis: When Sam Wilson is set up on a blind date, he doesn’t expect anything to come from it. He is already in a relationship after all, and not just with one other person, but a whole group of them. You never expected to end up working for the Avengers let alone be dating six of them at the same time. Now you’re balancing a new job, a new romance, new friends, and a secret that could destroy a lot of lives if it got out. It’s a tricky balance to get right at the best of times, but when something happens to Steve Rogers it’s up to the people who love him most to get him back.
28. You
What happened on the mission had left you feeling rattled. Seeing Steve completely lose it like that was terrifying. Not just the physical brutality of it, but the fact that he had it in him at all. You couldn’t help but wonder about the guy you’d spent the time in the hot tub with all those months ago and whether that sweet, romantic man had been the real Steve or this feral angry version was him.
The aftermath of the mission had taken a long time to break up. The police had arrived and then the FBI, and finally SWORD. The man Steve had beaten so badly had ended up in hospital in a critical condition, and while you didn’t think a man who was profiting in the trafficking of alien children necessarily deserved to live, you knew there would be a lot more trouble for the Avengers if Steve had killed him. As it stood he was being reviewed but the consensus seemed to be that Steve’s rage at a child trafficker was understandable.
Guys this completely changed my writing, heed it. I often do an entire draft just looking at sentence variation and oftentimes the results are absolutely transformative in the difference.
I noticed while watching “Downey’s Dream Cars” that RDJ has a distinct and varied cadence. He draws out a word, says things slowly… and then rushes a bunch of words together at once.
It’s musical. And I think it’s a big part of his appeal.
WARNINGS: ??? Barely edited ??? Mention of past emotional/physical abuse, loss of loved one, threatening behavior

He watched you sleep, listened to the way your breath had calmed after hours of sobbing. You had struggled to get out of his grip, something he hadn't allowed and finally- finally you had given up fighting him, tears spilling over and sobs starting quietly, until you had wailed, shoulders shaking. It had broken something inside of him to watch you weep, anger that someone could make you question your self worth. Anger that you had kept it in so long, that you had found no safe space to let it go.

Synopsis: Bucky wakes in the middle of the night from a nightmare about killing Tony’s parents. Elise takes him to address the problem head-on.
Takes place sometime between the tower and unexpected. I’m just gonna admit right now, I don’t know if this contradicts things said in the story, but I think it’s fine.
It wasn’t even midnight when Bucky’s nightmare pulled me out of my light sleep. I wasn’t even sure I’d fully fallen asleep yet. I’d gone to bed early with Steve, Sam, and Bucky and we’d ended up really putting each other through the paces. There was still an ache between my legs from the night’s activities. I wasn’t concerned about that at all as I woke. It was the soft whimpering being made by Bucky beside me. I opened my eyes just a crack and ran my fingers through his hair.

27. Steve
Steve’s thoughts had been slow and dark lately. Like he was thinking through molasses. He’d spoken to the therapist, and he knew that the things they said to him were right and made sense, but as soon as he left the therapist’s office, it felt like every thought he had needed to be triple-checked before he acted. Every day that triple-checking process was getting harder to do and more and more that dark part of him was coming out and ruining things. The training session where he’d pushed everyone further than was reasonable hadn’t even been the start of it. It was just the most obvious time. The first time he let that other part of him take over was when he’d slept with you the first time.
